Privacy Policy

This privacy policy applies only to the websites and services controlled by LG Electronics EU Office / LG Technology Center Europe ("LGTCE"or “we”) where this privacy policy is posted or referenced and through information collected via http://www.lgtce.com customer services calls to the LGTCE or an LGTCE affiliate call center and through product registration cards (collectively, the "Sites"). This privacy policy does not pertain to other information that is posted or provided by third parties.

Please read it carefully before using the Sites.

1. Introduction


http://www.lgtce.com is the site with the purpose of creating an experience of what LGE brand is and its various products with detailed information. It also provides customer services for current and future customers. LGTCE is committed to protecting the information of those individuals who use the Sites. This Privacy Policy sets out how we collect, use, and share information that we obtain as a result of your use of the Sites and, in particular, sets out:
 

  • What information LGTCE may obtain from you, your mobile device as a result of your use of the Sites;
     

  • How LGTCE uses the information that it obtains;
     

  • When LGTCE shares information with others; and
     

  • How you may control LGTCE's use and sharing of your information.

 

LGTCE reserves the right to add or remove service from its Sites and to modify its service from time to time.

The Sites may provide access to websites and links to other services owned and operated by third parties. These third party services are outside the scope of this Privacy Policy and have their own policies that apply to the collection, use, and sharing of information in connection with their services. We encourage you to read those policies. LGTCE is not responsible or liable for the privacy practices of such third parties.

2. What information does LGTCE obtain?

  • There are a variety of ways that we may collect information from you; below is a list of some ways we may collect such information:
     

  • We may collect your first and last name and product or service details if you contact us with a question related to our products or services;
     

  • We may collect your first and last name, mailing address, and billing information if you purchase our products or service on the Sites. This information may be used to deliver products or service which you have purchased;
     

  • We may collect your billing information, date of birth, address, phone number, and details of your product and hardware in order to provide customer service;
     

  • We may collect your first and last name, mailing address, and usage data in order to track your usage of the Sites.
     

  • We may collect registration details about products or any hardware(including serial number, place of purchase, purchase date)that you purchase, and this information may be tied to your name and mailing address;
     

  • We may collect your first and last name, mailing information, email address, and billing information if you download information from a Sites;
     

  • We may collect your name, email address, or phone number if you contact us with a question;
     

  • We may collect your first and last name, date of birth, and email address if you choose to participate in a contest or sweepstakes;
     

  • We may collect your name and mobile phone number if you consent to receive autodialed and/or pre-recorded telemarketing messages from or on behalf of us at your mobile number.
     

  • We may collect your name and mobile phone number if you consent to receive SMS/MMS messages from or on behalf of us at your mobile number.
     

  • We may collect your first and last name, email address(ID), password, screen name, and date of birth to upload content or to add a comment on the Sites;
     

The information that we may receive when you use the Sites falls into the following categories:

  • Device Information. We may collect information about your products that you purchase or ask customer service through the Sites. Device Information may include product code or model number, your IP address, product category or, F/W and S/W information, country code or device Id(MAC Address, UUID, etc.).
     

  • Account Information. When you first register with the Sites, you will be asked and prompted to enter certain information, such as your email address (which will be your user ID), password, telephone number, name, and address.
     

  • Usage Information. Usage Information refers to all information collected from the Sites such as what action has been applied to the Sites such as clicking logs; your registration details or how you may be using the Sites.
     

  • IP Address. When you use the Sites, we may automatically log your IP address (the unique address which identifies your computer on the internet) which is automatically recognized by our server.
     

  • Cookie.  A "cookie" is a small text file that may be used to collect information about your activity on the Sites. For example, when someone visits a page within the Sites, a cookie is placed on the user's machine (if the user accepts cookies) or is read if the user has visited the Sites previously. Cookies may also be used to track users across the Web. You may set most browsers to notify you if you receive a cookie, or you may choose to block cookies with your browser, but if you do, you may not be able to take advantage of the personalized features enjoyed by other users who visit the Sites. Some of the cookies we use may be flash cookies or Adobe cookies. Depending on your browser, these cookies may not be automatically deleted. Please check your browser to determine where these types of cookies are stored and how they may be deleted.
     

  • Web Beacons. (also known as "clear gifs," "web bugs" or "pixel tags") "Web Beacons" are tiny graphics with a unique identifier, similar in function to cookies, and are used to allow us to count users who have visited certain pages of the Sites and to help determine the effectiveness of promotional or advertising campaigns. When used in HTML-formatted email messages, web beacons can tell the sender whether and when the email has been opened. In contrast to cookies, which are stored on a user's computer hard drive, web beacons are embedded invisibly on web pages.

 


3. How will LGTCE use the information it obtain?

We use your information that is collected through the Sites primarily for the following purposes:

  • To deliver or provide the service;
     

  • To provide customer service;
     

  • To alert you of special offers, updated information, other new products or service, or to forward promotional materials to you;
     

  • To complete a transaction or service requested by you;
     

  • To fulfill the terms of a promotion;
     

  • To ensure the Sites are relevant to your needs;
     

  • To help us create and publish content most relevant to you;
     

  • To notify you about a material change to this Privacy Policy or the Terms of Use, if necessary;
     

  • To allow you access to limited-entry areas of the Sites;
     

  • To allow you to upload content or to add a comment to the Sites;
     

  • To contact you in response to sign up forms such as “Contact Us” or other inquiries.
     

  • To analyze, review, and improve the products or service we offer;
     

  • To understand how customers are using the Sites
     

  • To develop new products and service we offer;
     

  • To provide you with a user-friendly navigation experience;
     

  • To protect and defend our rights and property, including by way of legal proceedings;
     

  • To comply with regulatory requirements;
     

  • For internal record keeping.
     

The legal basis on which LGTCE will rely on to process your personal information will typically be one of the following;
 

  • Contract: where it is necessary to perform a contract with you. For example, where you purchase a product from LGTCE or to provide you with a service you have requested.
     

  • Legitimate interests: where it is necessary for the purposes of LGTCE or a third party’s legitimate business interests. For LGTCE, this will include its interests as a global consumer electronics products manufacturer and service provider in improving our products and services, better understanding our customers and safeguarding our interests. For example, LGTCE may rely on its legitimate interests to analyse customer behaviours, build up customer usage patterns and profiles in order to identify regional and global user trends and optimize our offering to customers globally. LGTCE may also use your personal information in order to prevent, detect and investigate illegal activities, such as breaching our Terms of Use and fraud.   • Consent: where you have chosen to provide it. You have the right to withdraw your consent at any time; or
     

  • Legal obligation: where the processing is necessary for compliance with our legal obligations.
     

The information provided in the various subsections below indicates which of the above legal bases is being relied on in relation to a different categories of personal information.
 

4. Information Sharing

Affiliates and Subsidiaries. LGTCE may share Personally Identifiable Information and Non-Personally Identifiable Information with its affiliates and subsidiaries around the world for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy. The term ‘affiliates’ or ‘subsidiaries’ refers to group companies who may be using LG name or who has common ownership or control such as LG Electronics, LG CNS or LG Electronics France S.A.R.L.

 

Please be aware that we may further share such information with the following entities:

  • Third Party Service Providers. We may share your Personally Identifiable Information and Non-Personally Identifiable Information with third party service providers to enable using “Sites”.
     

While we generally do not share the information with additional third parties, please note that in the following specific circumstances, we may further share the information with the following entities;

  • Other Parties When Required by Law. As required by court order or other government or law enforcement authorities in order to comply with legal process or law;
     

  • Other Parties in Connection with Corporate Transactions. In connection with a corporate event, such as a merger or sale of all or part of LGE’s business (including that of a division or subsidiary), where LGE may need to disclose information to a potential buyer and its professional advisers;
     

  • Other Parties When it is Necessary to Protect Our Services. In order to protect and defend our rights and property, including by way of legal proceedings;
     

  • Other Parties When it is to Protect Any of Our Users’ Personal Safety or Property. In order to protect the personal safety or property of our users or the public.

 

Under no circumstances shall your personal information be processed for marketing purposes, nor shared with third parties for marketing purposes.

 

5. Collection and Use of Information from Children under the Age of 16

Protecting the privacy of children is important to us does not knowingly collect or maintain personal information from anyone under the age of 16 or knowingly allow such persons to use the Sites. If you are under 16, please do not attempt to register on the Sites with any personal information. If you are at least 16 but under the age of 18, you must have your parent’s or legal guardian’s permission to use or access the Sites. If learns that a child under 16 has provided us with any personal information, will promptly delete such personal information.

6. Overseas Transfers

As a global organization, we, our affiliates, subsidiaries, and suppliers may need to transfer your information (including your personal information) outside the country where you are located, such as South Korea. This includes transferring your information outside the European Economic Area, if this is where you using “Website”. We transfer your personal information in this manner in order to provide you with our Services and any other purposes outlined in this Privacy Policy. You will need to provide your consent to this in order to use “Website”. You should also bear in mind that the data protection laws in many of these countries may not offer the same level of protection as those in your home country. However, before transferring we will take steps to ensure that safeguards are put in place aimed at ensuring the same level of protection as under applicable data protection laws in the country where you are located. 7. How long will LGE keep my personal Information

We will take reasonable steps to make sure that we keep your personal information for as long as is necessary for us to provide you services or for the purpose for which it was collected, or as required by applicable law. We apply criteria to determine the appropriate retention period for different categories of personal information you provide us with. For example, we will keep information necessary to protect us in a legal claim, such as information relating to a contract, for the lifetime of the contract and up to seven years after. After this period it will be deleted or in some cases anonymised. Where we have collected the personal information based on your consent and we have no other lawful basis to continue with that processing, if you subsequently withdraw your consent then we will delete your personal information.
 

8. Cookies and other tracking technologies

When you access the Sites, we and our third party partners may use cookies – small text files containing a string of alphanumeric characters – and other tracking technologies. We may use both session cookies and persistent cookies. A session cookie disappears after you close your browser. A persistent cookie remains after you close your browser and may be used by your browser on subsequent visits to the Sites. Please note that if you delete, or choose not to accept cookies, you may not be able to utilize certain features of the Sites to their full potential.

When you access the Sites, third parties may collect personal information about your online activities; these third parties may also collect personal information about your online activities across different websites over time. We are not responsible for this third party data collection.

9. Third Party Web Sites

This statement applies solely to information collected on the Sites. The Sites may contain links to other websites. We are not responsible for the privacy practices or the content of these other websites.

10. Assignment

In the event that all or part of our assets are sold or acquired by another party, or in the event of a merger, you grant us the right to assign the information collected via the Sites.

11. Changes to this Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy may be updated by LGE from time to time, without notice, although we will inform you of any material changes through an update to the Sites, and you will be asked to accept the update. If you do not consent to any updates to this Privacy Policy, some of the service may be restricted.

12. Security

We use commercially reasonable efforts to safeguard the confidentiality of your personal information. Nevertheless, due to the design of the internet, ever-changing technology, and other factors outside of our control, we cannot guarantee that communications between you and the Sites will be free from unauthorized access by third parties or that will not be subject to security breaches. We do not accept any responsibility for the disclosure of personal information due to errors in transmission or unauthorized or unlawful acts of third parties or your decision to disclose your personal information. You must also take appropriate steps to keep your password confidential and change it regularly.

13. Accessing Your Information and Your Rights

Under the laws of some jurisdictions, may have the right to request access to, rectification or erasure of, the personal information holds about you or the right to object to or restrict certain types of processing of your personal information (or to withdraw your consent to processing), or to receive a machine-readable copy of your personal information. If permitted by laws, a small fee for providing you with such service may be charged. Please note that we may decline to process your requests if they are unreasonably abusive, jeopardize the privacy of others, or are extremely impractical (where permitted under applicable law).
